Let the Fun Begin

I am finally starting to believe that I am in Ireland for the next three months (and fourteen days to be exact...but i'm not counting). I also think I'm starting to enjoy it here. I don't really know who's reading this, but those who know me best know I am not a city girl. I need the fields of green and small cottages on dirt roads to be happy- not the tall buildings and bustling streets that is Galway. So the first few days I was really worried that these months would take forever. But last night Molly and I decided that in order to be happy here we needed to plan it out. So as of now, we have six weekend trips around Ireland, and two international ones planned out. Obviously we want to hit the tourist stops (blarney stone, cliffs of maher...) but we also have two weekends set aside for just finding a small country bed and breakfast and exploring there. I really like Molly, we're really similar and get along great.

After planning it all out, we realized that we're only here in Galway for two weekends, which is something I am really happy about. I mean, I like the city, but I don't like cities all together so that just ruins it right there. And before anyone says anything about being open to new experiences and any of that, yeah I have been open. I've been here for almost a week and I'm already sick of walking up and down the streets looking at clothes I can't afford. I want to use my limited money to travel and see the parts of Ireland that I WANT to see, not the inside of every pub in the city.

Today was a good day for me. Feeling better about my time here just put me in a good mood, but I also went to on two great adventures. First thing this morning...aka 11....a group of us went on a long stroll down to Salt Hill, a bay area that connects to the ocean. Even though Galway is a coast city, where we are doesn't feel like it at all. So seeing the ocean was a large comfort for me and exciting as well.
It was a nice walk along a part of the city I had yet to see, and it was good bonding time with my group of girls.

After getting back and decompressing for a little, another group decided to go on a boat tour of the city and hopefully some more green. It felt like heaven to all of us. The land was green, the sky was blue and for once the sun was shining. We all needed to see that sunlight to remind us that life is actually bright and I realized how crucial vitamin D actually is. I probably should have packed some when leaving VT...

The things we saw on the boat had us all saying "This is what I thought Ireland was going to be like." The tour itself totally sucked and was boring, but just being out on the water with the wind in my hair had me feeling refreshed.
But then I came home and crashed. I have to get up at 3:30 tomorrow morning to go work at the IRONMAN 70.3! Danny's dying in jealousy right now and I couldn't be more excited. API is providing the transportation to and from it and so that means I don't have to worry about it. I'm packing my sandwich right before I go to bed and I'll be ready to go. Ironman here I come :)

Night everyone,
k
